Objectives:

Project has two parts:
Part 1: a literature review conducted in 2013, and
Part 2: effect-based in vivo and in vitro-studies which started in March 2014 and ended in February 2016

Aims:
Part 1: To gain an overview on recently published literature on pharmaceutical effects and accumulation, as well as possibilities for the monitoring of pharmaceuticals with in vivo-systems.
Part 2: To develop new, mode-of-action based in vitro systems, which can be used to detect specific pharmaceutical classes as a whole.

Activities:

Part 1:
– Creation of a database on published effects of various pharmaceuticals of high priority
– Creation of literature databases containing all relevant publications
Part 2:
– A system for the monitoring of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), was designed (Steinbeis Transfer Center Mannheim)
– In vivo studies on effects in trout (University of Tübingen), gammarids (GWT) and annelids (University of Frankfurt )
– Chemical analyses in water and biota (TZW)
